Escale is a travel app published by Kevin Marson (Easytech by Kevin). This page explains what data the app processes, why, where it is stored, and with whom it may be shared.

General principle

Your travel data (itineraries, documents, photos, expenses, traveller profiles) is stored:

• locally, on your device; and
• if you're signed in to iCloud, in your own personal iCloud account (via Apple CloudKit), to sync across your devices.

We have no technical access to this data: it is transmitted and stored exclusively within Apple's iCloud infrastructure, under the control of your own Apple account.

Data processed by the app

• Traveller profile (first name, last name, nationality, date of birth, passport number and expiry date, photo) — used to personalise the checklist, the country sheet (visas, customs) and the travel group display. Storage: local + personal iCloud.
• Document vault (passport, visa, insurance, bookings…) — securely kept, protected by Face ID / Touch ID. Storage: local + personal iCloud.
• Photos in the trip gallery — to build the trip's photo album. Storage: local + personal iCloud.
• Location — contextual detection (airport, hotel, car rental) and, optionally, live location sharing with the other participants of a shared trip. Storage: local; live sharing goes through the trip's shared iCloud zone.
• Expenses and budget — trip budget tracking and splitting between participants. Storage: local + personal iCloud.
• Preferences (currency, colour, notifications) — app personalisation. Storage: local (device settings).

Third-party services used

Escale includes no advertising SDK, no analytics tool, and does not sell or share data for commercial purposes. The only external services used are the following:

Apple services

• iCloud / CloudKit — trip sync and sharing across devices and with explicitly invited participants.
• WeatherKit — destination weather forecast, based on the trip's coordinates.
• Apple Maps (MapKit) — map display and place search.
• Face ID / Touch ID — document vault unlock. Biometric data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to Escale.

Non-Apple third-party services

• Frankfurter (exchange rates) — only the relevant currencies are sent, no personal data.
• AeroDataBox (real-time flight status, optional feature) — only the flight number you enter is sent, no personal data.

Sharing between users

A trip can be shared with other participants, solely at your initiative (the "Share trip" button). This sharing uses Apple's secure iCloud sharing mechanism (CKShare): only people you explicitly invite can access the shared trip's content. Vault documents and traveller profiles (sensitive data) are excluded from this sharing.

Retention and deletion

Your data stays under your control. Deleting a trip, a document, or the app itself deletes the corresponding data locally as well as in your personal iCloud. We keep no copy of it.

Your rights (GDPR)

Since your data stays under your control (device + personal iCloud), you can view, edit or delete it directly in the app. For any request: info@easytechpro.be. You may also contact the Belgian Data Protection Authority: dataprotectionauthority.be.

Children

Escale is not intended to be used directly by children. A "child traveller" profile can be added by a parent or guardian when preparing a family trip; this information is managed by the adult account holder, under the same conditions as the app's other data.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the app evolves. The last update date is shown at the top of this page.
